The Town of Hanover and surrounding region is a part of what is known as "The Upper Valley". This designation refers to a geographic area stretching along both sides of the Connecticut River in Central New Hampshire and Vermont. At the region's center are the towns of Hanover & Lebanon on the New Hampshire site and Hartford (White River Junction) & Norwich in Vermont.
Each Upper Valley town has its own distinctive character and beauty. Hanover is home to Dartmouth College (one of the Ivies and the ninth oldest college in the nation) and enjoys a lively, traditional business district and beautiful countryside.
The Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce has an attractive, dynamic and diverse membership. We'd like to give you several opportunities to learn how we might be a good investment for your business. Through our member outreach program you can speak with one of our Ambassadors, sit in on a Task Force meeting or attend one of our Business After Hours programs.
The Chieftain Inn has been a staple of the Hanover community since the early 1950’s. Staying at the Chieftain Inn has become, for many, a family tradition. It is the only Inn within walking distance of Dartmouth College, the many fine restaurants and shops of Hanover that offers flat water recreation. Here at the Chieftain you can use a canoe, scull, boat, fish and swim. The Chieftain Inn offers a serene outdoor setting, beautiful views of the Connecticut River and the hills of Vermont. The Inn is family owned and operated so, every guest is made to feel as part of the family.
